Need advice on finding my first apartment in downtown Toronto

I just graduated and landed an entry-level job in the financial district. I'm looking for my first apartment and trying to decide between areas like King West and St. Lawrence. Is $2200 a reasonable budget for a one-bedroom? Also, any tips for negotiating lease terms would be super helpful!
