Searching for 1BR under $2000 in Toronto - Need advice

Hi everyone! I'm on the hunt for a decent place—preferably a 1 bedroom under $2000/month in Toronto. Is this budget realistic? Any tips on areas where I can find a quality 1 bed $2000 or less? Also, are employment letters or bank statements common requirements? Thanks for your help!
