Safety in Toronto neighborhoods - How safe do you feel at night?

I've been looking into different neighborhoods in Toronto for affordable housing and I'm a bit worried about safety. What are your thoughts on building security and bike theft in the area? Also, do you feel comfortable walking around at night? Any insights would be appreciated!
