Vent about the exhausting basement apartment hunt in Toronto

Just need to vent real quick. I feel completely burnt out from searching for a basement apartment with all these absurd requirements. Like, why do I need perfect credit and references for a place with no natural light? This market is downright ridiculous, and I'm so done with this process.
