Breaking lease due to job relocation - any advice?

I just got a job offer in another city, but I have 8 months left on my lease. I’ve talked to my landlord about possibly subletting but they’re hesitant. Has anyone been through this? Looking for advice on breaking the lease or how best to approach the landlord with options.
