Anyone else find 90-minute commutes unbearable?

I've been commuting from Etobicoke to downtown for classes, and it's really taking a toll on me. The subway is packed during rush hour, and I can't manage to study or relax on the way. Anyone have tips on surviving long commutes in Toronto?
