Weather Woes: Moved on the Rainiest Day of March

Survived my move through a torrential downpour—thank you Toronto weather! My movers were great but my belongings and I were soaked by the time we reached my new apartment near the subway. Any tips to protect your stuff from rain during a move? PSA: Keep at least one umbrella handy!
