Just lost out again! Is this bidding war ever going to end?

Lost another unit today! I can't believe people are offering $300 over asking. How are they even managing to do that? It feels like I'm in some twisted game where the rules change every time. Am I alone in feeling this frustration? Anyone have tips for standing out in this crazy market?
