Are pet deposits legal in Ontario? Confusion around fees!

I'm a bit confused about the rules regarding pet deposits in Ontario. My landlord wants a pet fee, but I've heard that pet deposits might be illegal. Can they really charge me for having a pet? What can landlords actually charge? Is pet rent a thing or not? Any insights would help!
