Why is the rental market in Toronto so awful?!

Another rent increase, seriously? I just saw a bachelor for $2800. I literally viewed 15 places this week and they were all snatched up in HOURS! I’m overwhelmed and just so sick of these ridiculous bidding wars. How is anyone supposed to afford this? Just got outbid AGAIN!
