Downtown vs East End: Rent and Parking Costs

Looking at Downtown versus the East End for rentals, I'm curious how much parking influences rental costs in these areas. Do downtown spots tend to hike up rent significantly more than the East End, or are the differences minimal? Would love to hear experiences!
