What's the basement rental scene like in Parkdale?

I've been hearing mixed things about Parkdale recently. The basement apartments seem to be popping up everywhere, but I’m worried about legality and safety. Are the windows up to code? Has anyone dealt with moisture issues here? Would love to hear your experiences!
