Talk me out of this 2BR with a long commute for $1500/month

I'm considering a two-bedroom apartment for $1500/month, but it has a longer commute to campus. On one hand, it's affordable and I could potentially have a great roommate. On the other, I'm worried about compatibility and the time lost commuting. Should I keep looking or take the plunge?
