Need help choosing between assignment and sublet!

I'm just a recent grad and need to leave my Toronto rental. I'm confused about the differences between an assignment and a sublet. What's the best option to get out of my lease permanently? Also, do I need my landlord's approval for either? Any advice would be super helpful!
