Need advice on breaking lease due to sudden job relocation

I just got a job offer in another city, but I have 10 months left on my lease. I've spoken to my landlord, who is unsympathetic and insists on enforcing the full term. Has anyone been through this? I'm looking for advice on how to approach this situation and what my options might be.
