Rent for a 1BR in Toronto now averages $2400 - Is this normal?

I just found out that the average rent for a 1BR in Toronto has skyrocketed to $2400! I can't believe I'm paying 65% of my income on rent, and I feel utterly trapped. Where can I possibly afford to live? Anyone else feeling the weight of this affordability crisis?
