How's the commute from 394 Avenue Rd to downtown, is it manageable?

I'm looking at moving to 394 Avenue Rd and want to know about the commute to downtown. Is it realistic to get to the Financial District on the TTC? Also, how walkable is the area for daily errands without a car?
