Worried About Special Assessment Impact on Renters

I just heard about a special assessment that's affecting my condo, and I'm really worried. Do renters end up paying for this? I've heard that condo fees might go up and that could lead to a rent increase because of the assessment. Is it possible to leave the place if costs get too high? Any advice?
