Need to break lease due to sudden job transfer - advice wanted

I've recently received a job transfer that requires me to move across the country within 30 days, but I still have 6 months left on my lease. I've spoken to my landlord about breaking the lease, but they're not very accommodating. Has anyone been through this? What steps should I take?
