Landlord Violated My Privacy: 24 Hour Notice Not Given!

I’m furious! My landlord illegally entered my basement apartment without any notice. I thought there were strict rules about needing 24 hours' notice before entry. What are my rights when it comes to privacy, and when can they enter for emergencies? This feels so wrong! Help!
