Moving to Toronto this summer, need neighborhood recommendations!

I'm relocating to Toronto in July for a new job and need advice on where to live. I have a budget of around $2200/month for a one-bedroom. I've heard mixed reviews about Kensington Market and Leslieville. Any thoughts on those areas, or suggestions on others that might fit my budget? Thanks!
