How's the commute from 2180 Weston Rd to downtown, is it manageable?

I'm considering a move to 2180 Weston Rd but want to know about the commute to downtown. What's the TTC ride like, especially to Union Station? Also, can you get around without a car in this area, or do you need one to run errands?
