Toronto Housing Prices Are Mind-Boggling!

Why is housing in Toronto so ridiculously expensive? I mean, NYC is cheaper than Toronto now! Even Vancouver makes me question if our prices are justified. How can Toronto, a city in Canada, have rents that rival those in major cities worldwide? It's baffling! What is going on?
