Curious about pre-con rentals but wary of risks!

I’m excited about the chance to rent a pre-construction condo in Toronto, but I’m also concerned about potential construction delays and how they might affect my lease. What if the building isn’t finished on time? Are there financial risks I should be aware of? Any advice would be appreciated!
