Living in Leslieville - is it really family-friendly?

I've been eyeing Leslieville for a bit. The community vibe seems strong, and I love the local cafes! But how's the rental market there? Are families really settling in, or is it more of a hipster haven? Iām also curious about safety and nearby schools as Iām new to Toronto.
