Living in Leslieville - is it really family-friendly?

I've been eyeing Leslieville for a bit. The community vibe seems strong, and I love the local cafes! But how's the rental market there? Are families really settling in, or is it more of a hipster haven? I’m also curious about safety and nearby schools as I’m new to Toronto.
