Is my landlord allowed to raise rent by 8% in Kensington Market?

Hey everyone, I'm in Kensington Market and my landlord just announced an 8% rent increase for next month. I've heard there are limits on how much they can raise rent in Ontario. Can anyone confirm if this increase is legal and what the typical caps are for this year? Thanks!
