Is 361 The West Mall good for getting to downtown or university easily

I've just seen 361 The West Mall on a map and I'm curious about the TTC routes. How easy is it to get to downtown or the nearby universities? Any tips on bike lanes, bus stops, or subway access that would make travel simpler would be great!
