Lost out again in a bidding war – help!

I just got outbid again on a place I thought I had a good chance at. Someone offered $250 over asking! Is this the new norm in Toronto? I’m feeling stressed about this insane competition and just want a decent place without breaking the bank. How are others managing to secure rentals?
