Roommate leaving to travel for 6 months - need advice on lease

My roommate just informed me they’re leaving for a 6-month travel stint and wants to stay on the lease. I can’t afford the full rent alone and don’t want to lose my place. What options do I have? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Not sure where to even start.
