Confused About Pet Deposits in Ontario

Hey everyone, I’m a long-time renter in Toronto and my landlord is asking for a pet deposit. Aren't pet deposits illegal in Ontario? What can they legally charge for pets—like a pet fee or pet rent? I'm scratching my head over this. Is there a difference between a deposit and a fee?
