Is spending 60% of my income on rent in Toronto the new normal?

I'm really worried. I'm currently spending about 50-70% of my income on rent, and it feels unsustainable. Is this how everyone is living in Toronto? How do people cope with rent eating their paychecks? I'm also anxious about how my credit score might affect rental approvals. Can anyone relate?
