How is anyone affording rent in Toronto anymore?

With average rent for a 1BR at $2400 now, it feels impossible to make ends meet. I earn $60k, yet I’m spending 60% of my income on rent. How do others manage? Is this really what Toronto has become? I just lost my fifth application, and everyone seems to be in bidding wars!
