How is anyone affording a $2400 1BR in Toronto now?

I've been looking for a place for three months and the average rent for a 1BR has skyrocketed to $2400. Even outer neighborhoods like Jane & Finch are now hitting $2200. It feels like no one can afford to stay in this city any longer. What are people doing?
