Need tips on renting in Leslieville for a career change

I’m planning to move to Toronto for a new job and considering Leslieville. It looks like a fun neighborhood, but I’m unsure about the rent prices – are $2600 apartments reasonable here? Also, is it easy to get downtown from Leslieville? Any advice would be appreciated!
