1650 Bathurst St and its local shops: are they any good?

I’m checking out 1650 Bathurst St and was curious about what's nearby. I love being able to walk to cafes and boutiques, and I noticed a streetcar line runs right by it. Are there any local gems I should know about, or is it just your standard fare?
