Seriously?! Rent increases & terrible landlords in Toronto!!

I can't believe how out of control this rental market is! Landlords are hiking up rent without a second thought—$400 increase in just one year? How is anyone supposed to afford this? I've been to 15 showings and every place is snatched up within HOURS. I'm beyond frustrated!
