Lost again to a crazy bidding war!

I just got outbid on a rental again! Someone offered $300 over asking, and the landlord says they’re considering a few offers that came in well above. How is this normal? Feels like I’m throwing darts in a game I don’t understand. Anyone else dealing with this madness?
