Is 1106 Avenue Rd good for commuting to downtown hospitals by TTC?

I'm looking at 1106 Avenue Rd and wondering how easy it is to get downtown to hospitals like St. Mike's or SickKids using the TTC. Are the streetcar and bus routes frequent enough during rush hour? Also, is there a safe route for biking if I want to cycle instead?
