Average 1BR at $2400 - Are We Becoming Homeless in Toronto?

Is $2400 for a 1BR apartment the new normal in Toronto? I've been searching for months and can't find anything under $2000. With my salary of $60k, I'm forced to spend over 60% of my income just to have a roof over my head. How is anyone affording rent in this city anymore?
