Just lost out again in a bidding war for a basement apartment!

I can't believe this! I lost out on yet another rental. Someone offered $300 over asking, and I just feel defeated. Is this the new norm for rentals in Toronto? How are people even making these crazy offers? Anyone else experiencing the same frustration?
