Shocked by Toronto's Insane Parking Costs!

Has anyone else noticed how expensive parking is in Toronto? I mean, are we really talking about upwards of $200 a month for a parking spot? It makes me wonder if street parking is a viable alternative or if it's worth shelling out this kind of cash for convenience. What are your thoughts?
