Pet Deposit Legality in Ontario - Need Clarification!

I'm a bit confused about pet deposits in Ontario. My landlord is asking for a pet fee, but I thought pet deposits were illegal here? Can they charge me for my pet, like a pet rent, or is there a limit on what they can ask? Anyone else dealt with this on the TTC subway line? Thanks!
