Why are moving quotes in toronto so different and how to handle it

I just got three quotes for moving from my Bloor West Village condo to downtown, and they vary by over $500! I’m torn between hiring a crew or doing it myself. Also, how much is normal to tip movers around here, especially on what feels like a chaotic moving day?
