How to manage double rent when moving from mississauga to toronto

I’m moving from a 1-bedroom in Mississauga to a shared apartment in downtown Toronto next month and have to overlap two rents for a month. How do I handle the extra cost? Last time I hired a crew, they scratched my floors and didn’t take responsibility, so I'm nervous about hiring again.
