Toronto movers damaged my furniture who should pay for repairs

I just moved into a basement apartment in the Annex and my movers scratched my antique dresser during the process. They’re refusing to take responsibility, saying it’s 'not their fault.' Is this normal? What can I do to get compensation for the damage?
