Confused about pet deposits in Ontario - Need help!

Hey everyone! I just graduated and am looking for my first apartment in Toronto. My landlord wants a pet deposit, but I heard that pet deposits might be illegal in Ontario? Can someone clarify if they can charge me a pet fee or pet rent? What are the actual rules around this? Thanks!
