How much do movers cost for a small apartment in toronto during peak season

I'm moving from a Forest Hill 1-bedroom to a smaller unit in North York at the end of the month. I'm hearing quotes range between $300 to $800 for movers, but I'm not sure why there's such a variance. Anyone else found unexpected fees when moving during peak season?
