Worried about Special Assessment Impact on Renters

I've recently heard about a special assessment affecting my condo, and I'm really worried. Do renters pay these additional costs? If the condo fees go up significantly, could that lead to a rent increase? I'm considering leaving because I can't afford extra expenses, especially with kids to support.
