Survived my move, barely: chaos and lessons learned!

Moved last weekend and it was a disaster! The movers were three hours late, the weather turned from sunny to torrential downpour, and then I found out my new place had a leaky ceiling. Anyone else had a chaotic move? What lessons did you learn that could help others planning theirs?
