How much do movers cost toronto for a 1 bedroom condo in king west

I'm moving from Vancouver to a 1-bedroom in King West and trying to budget. I've seen quotes ranging from $400 to over $1,000! How do I figure out when to give my notice back home and book my movers here? Any tips on ensuring I'm not blindsided by extra fees would be great too!
